Comic Life 3 App Reviews

Garbage

Fix this trash.

Good stuff

Good stuff, but crashes consistently when "rate me" dialog pops up. Need to delete and reinstall. Pain.

Disappointing

Cant import files from previous version, even after following the painful export/import instructions & trying all three methods listed in help section (iTunes, Dropbox & WebDAV). Purchasing update was a of money for me if this is not fixed. Also crashing frequently.

IOS8.1 crashing the app on 2 pages

Wow need to reinstall it get the hiccups crashing & looping the app. Make 2 colections for teaching. Bubble problem Cant delete bubbles so i minimize it.

Dropbox? Canvas sizing? So much potential right here.

My biggest complaint is that there are not larger canvases to work with. I get that I can make another page, but if I just have 2 more panels, I’d rather not. If we can’t make the canvas size a custom dimension, then please provide the many options you do on the desktop app. No Dropbox support that I can see. Bummer. Not even iCloud. I wish this app used handoff. But I can’t even open my desktop comic life files on this version. So much potential! I would love to see more iCloud Drive support. Keep the updates coming guys.

Awesome app

This is a great app but the only problem is that the controls are a little confusing.

Great, but can use some tweaking

Ive been using Comic Touch for a long while but I thought Id give this a try. Its flexibility and formatting options are much worth the upgrade. However, it took me a while to figure out how to do simple things like changing the text size. Even now, it still seems a bit cumbersome to go to those edits. Id like to change the default settings, but I still havent figured out if its possible to do. If not, it should be. Still, its a fun app to use and I recommend it highly. I like sending one pane strips to my friends and family using photos I take with my phone camera.

Quite Nice

I really can make some great comic pages to send to my friends of them and of myself and I get great reactions all the time. I give it a 4 because it still a hassle to make key adjustments for what I like, such as font resizing and just moving the bubbles around. At the end it may not be exactly how I wanted it but its still a very useable comic. A minor learning curve but worth a try.

Using this app for almost 3 years

I’ve been using this app since version 1 and have made “comics” of my grandson as he grows up. Each new version adds interesting and easy to use refinements. Even for an old guy like me, it is intuitive and fun to use. I’ve tried others, but Comic Life has more of the retro-comic feel and look. I send the completed file to a friend printer and he binds 20 of each “edition” and I give to all the relatives. I’m now the popular PaPa.

Fun and decently designed

Ive not spent time to master this app, but Ive used the desktop version for longer albums. This one is fine for single photo or single strip comics, and they look beautiful. The controls take some getting used to for my large hands (iPhone 5 here). Figuring out how to change font size was frustrating, but this is still a great app since the result looks great with very little effort!

Awesome app

Overall a really good app that can use some more settings to cartoon existing or new pics like camera360.

No basic save to gallery??? ARE YOU KIDDING???

Why cant I just do a save to gallery instead of the convoluted process youve produced here! Im sorry but this RUINS THE APP COMPLETELY. Its actually a decent comic making app but the cumbersome saving process (which was crashing before the latest update) makes it not a very useful product. Make saving simpler and I can raise the rating. Until then, sorry, this is no professional.

Converting to PDF

Great app to creat easy to view comics in school. Huge negative, when converting to a pdf file, not all images and text show up in the pdf, resulting in blank boxes or pages. Please fix asap!

A bargain compared to the Mac version.

This is a great app. If it wasnt so hard to select text in balloons. I would give it five stars. Developer give us an editor that can slip into a ballon, select all to allow easy changes to type style and type size and this would be fantastic.

Nice work. Good interface. Useful.

Had this on desktop for some time. I use it sporadically. This new version brings the iOS app close to the same level & I think good work should be rewarded. If you don’t like working on iOS, there’s always the fore facile desktop version & a good buy at that price. If you don’t draw much but like mucking with photos & applying cute captions, this is nice, as are some companion apps worth a look. Has a number of starter templates you can manipulate. Its actually getting to be a pretty nice tool if you can draw & then drop cartoons into its shell, though its up to you for line weights consistent from panel-to-panel in the final print version. You can export a couple of ways. includes a scripting feature that would require a much more expensive app in most cases, though that has some room for improvement. Its a buy. If you have realistic requirements at this price & like the iPad format - its a good deal. I don’t know anything about review not being able to view images in PDF format. Works for me.

Help

It seems like a great app to have fun with but not user friendly. It will not allow me to cover the areas that I tap on. Has crashed on me several times. Please fix this and it will be a 5. Also, please allow us to save directly to camera roll.

Fulfills its promises...

...though the app has always been (since the first iOS version) slightly sluggish and prone to occasional crashes, its a good app overall. It is certainly the best comic book creator for the iPad. One quirk I am finding, however, running the latest version in iOS 8.3 is that the "replace" option for photos no longer fetches the photo library. "Replace" is a very useful feature, and I hope it gets fixed.

Crashing

This is a great app. i use it for school for my art class;although, for the first few minutes, it crashes! I would be very appreciative if this was fixed. Sometimes it is laggy but it needs improvements. I gave it a 3 stars because of quantity but quality needs some improvement.

Good app!

Hi I love this app! Can you add more lettering? Like Super Mario lettering? Thanks!

Something I Didnt Know

I was unable to figure out how to delete a comic. I have found the answer. The answer lies in the Settings of the iPad itself. If you go to the iPads Settings, under the General tab, then scroll down to the Comic Life 3 app, you will see a section titled Documentation Management. If you want to prevent accidental deletion of comics you have to turn it on in this area. I obviously turned it on and was therefore preventing deletion of my comic. Phew! This is a great feature, but you do have to remember to change your settings depending on whether or not you want to delete a comic. I hope that this helps anyone out there who may have had an issue with deleting a comic. For reference, I am leaving my original review below this one. HERE IS MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: I Have not figured out how to delete a comic. Cannot find any information in the app, the tutorial or the manual that comes with the app. I own the very first Comic Life app, and when you tap on a comic that you have already created, one of the options is to DELETE the comic. The icon to DELETE a comic is a TRASH CAN. There is NO TRASH CAN in COMIC LIFE 3. And I have not been able to find anything similar in any other sections of Comic Life 3. Is it me, or something that was left out of the app by mistake? This is a great app and any help is appreciated.
